Festivals Acadiens & Creoles is this weekend in Girard Park in Lafayette and it starts tonight at 5:30 with Jo-El Sonnier, followed by Lil’ Band O’ Gold. This is truly the Festivals you don’t want to miss (well that and Festival International).
There will be music, food, crafts, jam sessions, fun for the kids, and lots of dancing all weekend in Girard Park!
Tomorrow, the music starts at 10:30 and goes until 7:45 and Sunday, it starts with a French mass at 9:30 and the music begins at 10:30 until 7:15. Wayne Toups & ZydeCajun will be the closing band on the main stage (Scène Ma Louisiane).
This year’s festivals are dedicated to James Domengeaux who was one of the founding fathers of the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL).
This year also marks the bicentennial of Louisiana’s statehood and one of the stages is called the Louisiana Bicentennial Stage.

If you are going to Festivals Saturday morning, you may want to consider making a detour by the Acadian Village where Kiwanis of Acadiana will be holding its 12th annual Zydeco Pancake Breakfast. Grammy Award winner Chubby Carrier will be playing with The Bayou Swamp Band. For only $5, you get a pancake breakfast, great music, and entertainment for the kids! It’s a deal!
