Easter Weekend Events

easter fun

We should all be expecting a visit from the Easter Bunny very soon… Easter is right around the corner!

My family has always loved celebrating Easter. Each year we look forward to decorating and hunting for eggs, baking Easter themed desserts, playing games, and of course spending time with family and friends in celebration of Easter.

We’ve always planned our own Easter get-togethers, but there are plenty of ways to celebrate Easter if you aren’t much of a party planner. Check out these Easter weekend events that your whole family is sure to enjoy!

Saturday, March 26

Easter Egg Hunt
Children 12 and under and their parents are invited to Thomas Park in Lafayette for their 14th annual, free Easter egg hunt. The hunt begins at 10 AM and over 2,000 eggs will be hidden! Attendees will also be able to enjoy arts and crafts, face painting, balloons, drinks, prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Eggstravaganza
Head over to the Youngsville Sports Complex from 1 PM to 3 PM for Acadiana’s largest egg hunt! The whole family will enjoy this festive event. There will be local vendors, face painting, fun jumps, giveaways, and the main event – an Easter egg hunt with 50,000 eggs! There will be a safe and separate egg hunt for those with special needs.

Sunday, March 27

Easter Sunrise Service
Get a bright and early start to your Easter morning with East Bayou Easter Sunrise Service. Watch the sun rise over the beautiful Sugar Mill Pond with family and friends while enjoying a special Easter service. Remember to bring your lawn chairs and blankets!

Easter Brunch
Charley G’s will host a special Sunday Brunch in celebration of the Easter holiday. Available seating times are at 10:30, 11:15, 12:45, and 1:30 by reservation only. Call today to reserve a spot for your family!

S.M.A.R.T. Goals

motivational monday logo

Can you believe that we’re already three and a half months into 2016? I could’ve sworn that just a few weeks ago, I was deciding what my new year’s resolution would be.

Speaking of resolutions…how are yours coming along? If you’re anything like me, 2016 has been a crazy year already, and I haven’t devoted as much attention to my resolution as I would like. But we shouldn’t give up just yet—we’re only a quarter of the way through the year!  There’s still plenty of time to get back on track with our goals.

If you’re struggling to commit to your yearly goal and aren’t quite sure where to pick up, perhaps you should be more S.M.A.R.T. about it. By that, I mean that you should consider setting Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time based goals.

smart goals

Setting S.M.A.R.T. goals is a foolproof method to accomplish pretty much anything. Whether your goals relate to fitness, finances, business, or self-improvement, breaking them down into these 5 categories will keep you motivated to complete them! Focus on making your goals…

Specific

Who, What, Where, When, Why, Which

Define the goal as much as possible with no ambiguous language.

Who is involved? what do you want to accomplish? Why are you doing this? Which constraints/requirements do you have?

Measurable

From and To

Can you track the progress and measure the outcome?

How much, how many, how will you know when your goal is accomplished?

Attainable

How

Is the goal reasonable enough to be accomplished? How so?

Make sure the goal is not out of reach or below standard performance.

Relevant

Worthwhile

Is the goal worthwhile and will it meet your needs?

Is each goal consistent with other goals you have established and fits with your immediate and long term plans?

Time Based

When

Your objective should include a time limit. “I will complete this step by day/month/year.”

It will establish a sense of urgency and prompt you to have better time management.
