67th annual Erath Fourth of July
Erath is hosting it 67th annual days-long July Fourth events, which continue through Thursday. On Wednesday, Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie will perform starting at 9:30 p.m.
On the 4th, the celebration begins at 7:30 a.m. with 5K run and 1 mile walk. Area fire departments are set to hold water fights at 10 a.m. in downtown. The July Fourth parade begins off 5 p.m. and music by Louisiana Red begins at 7 p.m., and Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns take the stage at 9:30 p.m. A fireworks display is set for 9 p.m. For more information, visit erath4.com.
Sugar Mill Pond
In Sugar Mill Pond in Youngsville, the celebration starts on Wednesday. Free entertainment will include face painting, pony rides, live music, hot air balloon rides and a fireworks show starting at 9 p.m. For more information, Sugar Mill Pond Town Center, 101 Waterview Road, Youngsville. 856-2323.
ASO presents Red, White and Boom!
In Lafayette, the celebration will be in Parc International with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra hosting its Red, White & BOOM! event, featuring Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band and other musical performances and activities. Gates open at 5 p.m. Admission is $5. Receive one concession ticket for every five non-perishable food items donated to FoodNet.
Corey Ledet & His Zydeco Band open the show at the Freedom Fest! Stage at 5 p.m. followed by Lafayette’s Bayou Boys at 7 p.m. on the same stage. Interactive children’s music and activities are set for Parc San Souci at 5:15, 6:15, 7:15, and 8:15 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., Chubby Carrier joins the ASO on the Parc International stage. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.
Broussard
Fireworks kick off at 9 p.m. at Home Depot, 213 St. Nazaire Road, Broussard. Hot dogs and drinks will be on sale at the store beginning at 5 p.m., with all sales benefiting Miles Perret Cancer Services.
New Iberia
The New Iberia Independence Day Parade is set to begin at 6 p.m., followed by music and fireworks, at Main Street and Bouligny Plaza.
The Iberia Rod & Gun Club is also hosting its annual Saltwater Fishing Rodeo. The event begins at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday and ends at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Trophies will be awarded after the closing of the scales Saturday afternoon, and the event ends with a Fais Do Do under the Pavilion featuring Leroy Thomas and The Zydeco Road Runners as well as The Bad Boys Band.
