Some like it hot…
…especially us Cajuns! Here in Acadiana, everything is hot. The climate, the music, and especially the food! When it comes to Cajun food, the spicier the better.
So there’s no question why Acadiana hosts its very own hot sauce festival each year. Since 2000, the Cajun Hot Sauce Festival has attracted tens of thousands of attendees – the 2015 Festival alone brought in nearly 12,000 heat-seekers from across the country! The 2016 installation is expected to draw an even larger crowd.
The festivities already began last night and will continue through Sunday evening. There’s plenty of fun to be had: live music will be played throughout the weekend, hot sauce companies from around the world will be sampling their sauces, the very best local chefs will be competing in the jambalaya cook-off, patrons will put on their dancing shoes for a dancing contest, and carnival rides will be open for kids of all ages to enjoy!
The Cajun Hot Sauce Festival is held at the Acadiana Fairgrounds in New Iberia. Saturday admission is $10 and Sunday admission is $5. Kids 12 and under get in free!
